About Us
An independent guide to the Ars Nouveau experience
Ars Nouveau is one of those mods that rewards curiosity. You start with a Spell Book and a handful of glyphs, and somewhere between your first Touch-Break and your first fully automated Source network, you realise you have stopped following a recipe list and started designing systems. That shift is what this site exists to support.
ArsNouveau.org is an independent, community-run reference for players who want to understand the mod rather than just copy a setup from a video. We write in plain language, we test what we publish in-game where we can, and we try to explain why a mechanic works the way it does — not only which blocks to place.
What we cover
We organise everything around how people actually learn a magic mod: start small, get one thing working, then expand.
Spellcasting fundamentals. Forms, effects and augments, how they combine, why glyph order matters, and how spell cost scales as you stack modifiers. This is the foundation everything else builds on.
Source and infrastructure. Generating Source, moving it with relays, storing it in jars, and designing a network that keeps up with your ambitions instead of running dry halfway through a build.
Crafting and progression. The Scribes Table, the Enchanting Apparatus, Imbuement, Archwood and Magebloom, and the sequence that gets you from a starter book to late-game rituals without dead ends.
Companions and automation. Starbuncles, Whirlisprigs, Drygmys and Familiars — what each one does, what it needs, and where it genuinely saves you time versus where a hopper would have been fine.
Rituals and the wider toolkit. Ritual braziers, threads, armour upgrades, and the pieces that tend to get skipped because they are not obvious from the item list.
Working alongside other mods. Ars Nouveau rarely gets played alone. Where it interacts meaningfully with other magic and tech mods in popular modpacks, we say so.
How we write
A few commitments shape every page we publish.
We test before we tell. Guides are written against the mod in a live world, not reconstructed from memory or paraphrased from someone else’s tutorial.
We flag uncertainty instead of smoothing over it. If a mechanic behaves inconsistently, or if we could not reproduce something a wiki or forum thread claims, we write that down. A guide that admits a gap is more useful than one that quietly guesses.
We do not pad. No thousand-word preamble before the actual answer. If you searched for how much Source a Sourcelink produces, that number should be near the top of the page.
We keep the mod’s own sources front and centre. Where the official documentation, in-game guide book, or the mod’s own pages answer something definitively, we point you there rather than talking over them.
Who runs this
ArsNouveau.org is maintained by a small group of long-time modded Minecraft players — people who have spent more hours than is strictly reasonable rebuilding Source networks that almost worked. We are not affiliated with the mod’s development in any capacity.
[PLACEHOLDER — replace with your own bio.] Add a short paragraph here about who you are, how long you have played modded Minecraft, and which packs you have spent the most time in. Readers trust a named human far more than an anonymous site, and this is the single highest-value paragraph on the page to make specific.
Corrections and contributions
Mod knowledge ages quickly, and we would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong. If you spot an error, an outdated recipe, or a mechanic we have described badly, tell us. We update pages and credit corrections where the person wants to be credited.
We are also happy to hear what is missing. If you searched for something on this site and left without an answer, that is a gap worth knowing about.
